Since Millie will be retiring soon (finally) she has decided that she really wants to immerse herself into her crafts of Asian Delights. When we spent two years in Japan she became more and more in love with the different crafts, knick knacks, objects of Asian beauty. She came up with the idea of making shadow boards with chopstick holders. Hmmmm, maybe I should explain. In Japan you can find chopstick holders almost everywhere you go shopping. Many people collect them. Well Millie was one of those people. She actually got interested when she was dancing in Japan many years ago (ooops sorry honey, not that long ago)!
That's Millie in the center and her sister Jody. Hmmmmm wow she sure hooked me!! And she is just as lovely now as then. Opps sorry back on subject.
As she collected chopstick holders and her collection grew and grew (by hundreds) she one day decided to purchase a shadow board to display some of her favorites. I thought hmmm great idea but, what will I need to do Honey, does this involve my woodworking skill (which are none, high school shop only)? Well at first it was no not really I bought two boxes at a craft shop, wait and see when I am finished.
Well I was really quite surprised at how they ended up looking and family has all wanted one and so have friends. So from that small hobby of collecting, to displaying her favorite chopstick holders she has launched her Asian Delights adventure. I guess I need to polish up on woodworking skills now!
Here are a few examples of her work. Now I also need to develop that Website (YIKES)! This blog is a challenge by itself.
Now she is expanding into gift baskets, Quilts (Hawaiian and all others!)
Here is her input about her new found "hobby" and I thought I was retired. As my dad says, Ha your never retired! Oh well isn't romance lovely.
